Summer Music Day Camps are fun 2 week instrumental music classes for kids going into 2nd through 7th grade. Students bring an instrument of their choice, learn to read music and play about 12-15 songs. Sessions end with a concert for families. Classes are offered for beginning and intermediate level musicians. Session 4, PM is an intermediate class.
Some kids try just one camp to give an instrument a "test run" before 6th grade, others attend several sessions or even the entire summer. They can attend several or all sessions with the same instrument and build upon what they have learned in previous camps or attend several sessions with different instruments. The classes are small enough that we can easily taylor them to meet the needs of the students in each group. Each session ends with a concert for families.
Our tuition is $145 for 25 hours of personalized instruction plus a yearly registration fee of $25. The total fees for the first session attended is $170 per student, all following sessions cost just the $145 tuition.
Instruments are available at most local music stores, rentals generally run $20-$30 per month. We have a few instruments available through the school that rentfor $20 per session (2 weeks).

Who We Are
The Anchorage School of Music is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fun, affordable music lessons for local families. We were founded in 1995 by musicians who are also parents. Anchorage School of Music teachers are degreed professionals whose goal is to provide students with quality music instruction while inspiring a love for music and a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Our small class sizes ensure that each student receives individual attention and has the opportunity to shine.
About Our Classes
We offer classes for band, orchestra, keyboard and guitar. Class sizes are limited to 20. All of our students learn to read music. During the school year our classes begin in the fall and continue through the last week of May. There are multiple performance opportunities during the school year and parents are always welcome to attend classes. Tuition is $70/per month. Most classes meet twice weekly. Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced classes are available, and new classes can be formed anytime.
Our Summer Music Day Camps are fun 2 week instrumental music classes for kids going into 2nd through 7th grade. The camps are taught at Christ Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1612 Ocean View Drive (located on the Old Seward Highway where it intersects Ocean View Drive.) Students bring instruments of their choice, learn to read music and play 12-15 songs. Each session ends with a concert for families. Classes are offered for beginning and intermediate level musicians. Summer Music Day Camp is a great opportunity for 6th graders to get a head start for band or orchestra, or to decide on an instrument. The cost is just $145 per session for 25 hours of instruction (plus an annual registration fee of $25 if applicable.)
Who Can Benefit From Our Classes?
Everyone can! Studies have repeatedly proven that there is a link between music education and improved academic test scores in math and reading. Participating in a musical ensemble teaches valuable lessons such as cooperation and teamwork, increases self esteem, encourages creativity and self-expression, and its a lot of fun!
How You Can Start a Class in Your Area
Starting a new Anchorage School of Music Class is easy! Our classes are held in neighborhood schools and churches. We need a minimum of 8 students to begin a new program. We will provide the space and a teacher for you. Our program is ideal for private and home school students who would like to participate in a musical ensemble. Youth leaders may want to start a band class at a local church, or your PTA may want to start a guitar class before or after school. There are many possibilities, but they all have the same result - kids making music together! If you are interested in starting a class, please contact us.
